C4DtoA Quad Light Roundness and Softness not responding

Hi. I'm using C4DtoA for R21 on a Mac which has apparently disabled the roundness and softness settings for quad lights. Nothing I do in the latest version will have any effect on the lights. I have created new clean scenes and have tried to rule out every possibility outside of it being a bug. Please help.

Works for me.

What is that screenshot? Why is it square when the spread is 1?

That's my question. Why does the quad light appear square when the roundness and softness is set to 1?

With spread = 1, it shouldn't be a square like that. It looks like spread = 0

So I am not looking at the light on some surface, I'm looking at the light itself?

Roundness and softness are not going to change how the light itself looks when you make it visible to the render. It will look like a quad

I see. So you can't change how the light looks through the camera - only how the light appears on a surface?

That's right. The shape of the visible light doesn't change...I checked an older version too, so I don't think that was ever supported

Ok thanks. Not sure how I got confused or what made me think otherwise. Might have been from using a different renderer way back. Thank you for the help!
