I'm having an impossible time trying to designate my Arnold image textures as relative paths. They continuously default to absolute paths. See this link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ksnaen9o01peyzx/arnold_issue_1.jpg?dl=0
It's impossible for me to upload my file to an external render farm as the textures keep failing. What should I do? Note that this only happens on an "image" node, not on a "bitmap" node. Is this a bug? I'm on Arnold 5, Cinema 4D R18 on a Mac.
Thanks!

If the texture is in the tex folder or next to the .c4d scene file, the relative path should work. I made a quick test on Windows and it's fine. I can test OSX on Monday. What's the error in the log when you run a render? Does it happen with all textures or this one specifically?
Thanks for the response. Yes, the relative path works fine if the file is in the tex folder and I'm rendering locally - but when I send it to my outside render farm it seems to be failing as the render farm is searching for a path that doesn't exist.
This is only an issue with "image" nodes - not "bitmap" nodes.
Further, this is only an issue with Arnold, as you can see here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0zqonazjeg5rvfc/arnold_issue_2.jpg?dl=0
The same texture has generated two different paths:
- For the C4D standard material it's generated a relative path.
- For the Arnold material it's generated an absolute URL.
Why? This is driving me crazy.
I'm not sure it really matter what's in that dialog. The path is resolved by the plugin when translating the scene to Arnold. Do you render via Team Render? Can you show me the exact error message you get?
You're correct. The error I was having on the farm did not have anything to do with that particular dialogue box showing an absolute path. Appreciate the help, regardless.
I'm having the same problem with Drop&Render farm. I save the project with Assets so they are Relative paths, but then it's not possible to submit.
What if you set the texture search path in the render settings? For instance if the textures are in the tex folder, just add tex. I'm not sure what's different on the farm, the project's tex folder supposed to be added to the search path by default.
Hello Pablo. Did find an answer to this. Stressed out trying to get a project rendered today (deadline).. But when checking scene I only get the absolute path error..
