Hi — I can't get a cached x-particles simulation to render in the picture viewer. IPR and un-cached simulations in picture viewer both work fine...Any ideas?
I made a quick test with X-Particles 3.5.0411 and it seems to be working fine (used two particle groups). What's your X-Particles version? Could you please send me a simple scene to reproduce the issue with?
Also having a similar problem with xp 3.5.0411 in r16 and r18 with two different versions of C4dtoA (2.1.0.1 and latest build). Cached particles appear normally in IPR/viewport and then just randomly disappear for a frame or two when I render into picture viewer and also in the files the Arnold driver outputs. Sometimes changing random things in the scene and re-rendering a frame will fix it, mostly not. I have at least 2 particle groups in each scene. Any fixes for this?
I'm still unable to reproduce this. Are the same frames missing when you re-render, or is it completely random? Is there any error or warning in the Arnold log? Could you send me a simple scene?
I'm currently experiencing the same problem with a scene from a few months ago that rendered fine. Now it's not working. Will continue to diagnose and post here if I find a solution.
Thanks for posting @Peter Horvath, I'll DM you the scene. I posted on XP forum as well and they were unable to reproduce the issue. Reboot/re-cache doesn't fix on my end. I'm curious if it's somehow related to the cache being on a network? I can't cache anything locally so I can't really test. Just opened the console and noticed the following errors on each frame that fails:
C4DtoA | 00:00:08 3816MB WARNING| resetting parameter points on c4d|rivery_flow|Groups|Particle_Group_12 (found: nans or infs)
C4DtoA | 00:00:09 3794MB WARNING| [points] c4d|rivery_flow|Groups|Particle_Group_12: empty points object!
@Evan Stalker Just send me the scene to peter.horvath@solidangle.com
Seems like the emitter is empty, so it does not read the cache, that's why the warnings.
Does it have the same problem with the Standard Renderer? If not, than I don't think it's the network, but could be something in the plugin.
Is motion blur enabled by any chance?
Thanks, I'll email you. Standard render with the XP shader works correctly. Motion Blur is on.
,Thanks, I'll email you. Standard render with the XP shader works correctly.
Did you ever find an answer for this? I'm having the same issue. Cached xps won't render with the Arnold tag and Arnold shader. They will render with an xp material out of the standard renderer but not through C4DtoA. Curious if you had found an answer? Im also getting the same error as you:
C4DtoA | 00:00:09 3794MB WARNING| [points] c4d|rivery_flow|Groups|Particle_Group_12: empty points object!
It supposed to be fixed in C4DtoA 2.2.4. If you still have the issue please send me a scene and I'll take a look.
Please Peter
Can you add the
feature that is in mtoa
This utility enables you to bake out any geometry created during render time to a mesh in OBJ format. This includes subdivision and displacement, which can later be used for reference (for example a floor with a displacement map as a reference for an animator).
I have it on my todo list, I just could not find the time for it yet. Try to add soon.
Yo thank you for answering i almost lost hope ...cus im working on a project that severely needs it.thanks.
but will Arnold support HDRI in C4D viewport?
It's already supported, AFAIK. If you create an Arnold Sky with an HDRI map as the Color, then it supposed to be displayed in the viewport. If it's not working for you, please let me know.
That's odd, it works perfectly fine for me. Make sure the textures are allowed in your viewport, there are no filters, etc. Maybe it's specific to a texture. Did you try with other simple textures as well? Does the C4D Sky object display the texture properly?
Yo can you sned a screenshot of yours in the viewport let me see, i'll check the filters and others...and yes i've tried simple textures.
Here's my viewport, using default settings. The sky is properly displayed. You can send me your scene if you like so I can take a look.
