Installation of non server version of C4dToA with old license server still installed

Originally bought a networked version of Arnold through a third party. Expired today. Bought the new cheaper, easier, non license server(?) version and installed it. Won't render without watermark. There's nowhere to 'Activate' as per Autodesk. I still have the old license server running on my machine. Don't know Terminal well enough to figure out how to stop it, perhaps that's where new one is looking to authenticate? The License Manager window shows 'Cannot connect to a license server system. -15,570:36 Operation now in progress'. Help. Need to work today. Can't without Arnold...

Check out the Single-User Arnold License section in the docs.

Open the License Manager (Arnold > Licensing > License Manager) and click the License > Switch to Single-user Licensing in the menu.

It's possible that the license type is defined via an environment variable (ARNOLD_LICENSE_ORDER or ARNOLD_LICENSE_MANAGER) and you can not switch in the menu. In that case you should see a message in the License Manager, that you have to modify the environment variable instead. In that case please contact support@arnoldrenderer.com and they will help you solve the issue.

This is the page that shows how to use a single-user (aka "non license server") license:

Stephen Blair: I don't see that sort of window when I open the C4dToA Licence manager. It shows an ask for a server in the top part of the window, and error messages that I included in my OP in the bottom. I'm not quite up to using the Terminal Unix window to manage my license server. But thanks for the link.

Peter Horvath: I will try to solve this with the email support method you've provided. Thanks.

@James McDonald

If you have C4DtoA 3.x or older, then you can't use a single-user license.

You have to request a previous version license. Send your Autodesk subscription ID and the MAC address of your computer to support@arnoldrenderer.com

Stephen: I bought the upgrade today. I'm using Cinema R23, very recent. Previously, I was only able to buy a multi-user Arnold for the Mac and Cinema, which required a separate Licence Server. It uses Terminal to administer it. Terminal is pure code, of the Unix variety. I HATE using it. My license expired today, so I was thrilled that didn't need a License Server anymore. Now I can't get this one to work, and can't seem to rid myself of the specter of the server either in reality, or in cache, or in what Arnold wants from within my newly installed version in Cinema. Sorry for the rant.

Thank you for all your help, I have discovered where the 'convert to single-user' is located and have successfully activated my Arnold.
