Render crashes when GPU rendering using RTX 3090 and enabling motion blur. I narrowed down the problem and it happens even in a very simple scene with only one object and a physical camera.
I animated a default box moving left to right for 20 frames, added a physical camera, enabled motion blur, and assigned a default physical material. Left everything else default and rendered 30 frames. It crashes at frame 20, at the end of the box's animation. Happens in Max 2021 and 2022 with the latest Arnold release and the one prior.
If I render using a GTX 1080 or Quadro P5000 it renders fine.
Can anyone replicate this using a RTX 30s card? Could this be a bug with RTX 30 series cards?
RTX 30s cards (ampere generation) have hardware for accelerating motion blur, so that might be why it doesn't fail on the previous two generations of cards you tried.
Thanks for verifying this crashes in a simple scene! Is it possible for you to upload your scene so that we can be sure we're testing exactly the same thing? Or does it require making interactive changes to the scene for it to crash?
Tried to upload the max scene but it won't allow me. I get the message below. Its a .max file created in max 2022.
I am also experiencing this in my own scenes.
Just tried downloading your .max scene. It also crashes on my computer. 3080ti and 3070ti
Maybe a clue:
I tinkered around and enabled re-translate scene on a frame change in system and the scene test.cube.max does not crash.
Scene takes longer to render though.
