How Arnold Raytracing works

Hi,

I am pretty new to all of this and I am trying to understand how Arnold works (in a very basic way).

I created some images to see if I had it right but I have a couple of questions:

The camera fires the ray via the image buffer.

If I increase my AA rays to 2 then I get 2 x 2 = 4 samples for diffuse if diffuse has 1 ray. Even though there are 2 rays from AA I still only get a single ray and then the samples from the object that has been hit increases (the ray is still a single ray)?

Diffuse targets both direct and indirect?

Specular targets indirect only and to target direct I would have to increase the lighting samples?

thank you for the help

These tutorials should help.

Check out the Diffuse and Specular samples here.
