Hi, I use 3dsmax with an arnold light (quad) and I want to have a gradient in it . I thought that the best way was to use a blocker filter but I saw nothing. It seams not to work. The only way to have my gradient effect is to use a bitmap gradient in the light texture. ( the 3dsmax gradient map works correctly in activeshade and not in rendering mode). Do you have a solution to this ? Thks
The light blocker works fine with a gradient in Production mode & Active shade.
Look at the attached example.
Remember to switch "on" - Legacy 3ds Max Map support, in the render panel, under System. In case you forgot, the max gradient wont work until you enable it.
Thank you Mads Drøschler . The gradient map works now, I forget to switch 'on' in the rendering parameters ... ( it was correct in activeshade panel, that's why I didn't understand my problem). But I can't use this filter on my light (quad), nothing appears. In which kind of light does it work ?
Spot, point, area all works fine.
You may need to scale the map, it is rather small pr defauls, try zoom in to the object and identify it is working, then scale it up afterwards.
Attached a working file for max 2016.
May be I didn't ask my question as it should be. I want to use the blocker filter on a quad light. The goal is to have a gradient light and to be able to control this gradient. I find the solution by using a gradient ramp map in the texture light. It works but I I don't see any result by using the blocker filter. I may not use it as it should
Did you open my file in my reply to your last question? I replied directly to the message, so it is hidden by default.
I have just opened your file. I changed the scale and it works now ! Thank you for your quick answer ! 😉 ( I have used mentalray and iray for many years, I am a new Arnold user , I need to make some tests ... ) Thks !
