How can I make in Arnold 5 the alpha with proper transparency ? Lets say I have an Ice cube and I want the alpha to keep the transparency correct instead of full white , so I can comp it later with a background image.
Thanks !
Alex
Doing this approach is not physically correct, because the comped background won’t have any refraction. You might want to consider rendering a refracted UV map and distort the back ground in comp.
I the shader under transmission is an option to get a transparent alpha.
Hi Arvid,
Yes I know is not physically correct , but for sure in many situations is so useful. Anyway thanks , I didn't noticed about the Trasnmit AOV option it works perfectly.
Big thanks and BTW big follower of your youtube Channel.

@Arvid Schneider
Hi, was wondering if you can go into a little more detail of how to produce the refracted UV map to distort the background in comp. Would this workflow be applicable if I will be comping in After Effects?
Thx in advance.
Naoki
look into transmit aov's. gives out transmission as transparency in your alpha channel
Yeah, I tried the transmit AOVs, but like @Arvid Schneider stated, it isnt physically correct.
Trying to find an easy solution to refract the background in comp.
