Ok. Took a really long time to figure this out. Sadly I can't recreate the crash in a new file and I can't share the projectfile, but c4d crash if I use AOVs and send it to Team Render using the Take system. I have now rolled back to version 2.3.0.0 from 2.3.0.1 and that seems to work as expected. Here is a image of a specular pass, and a screen shoot I took of a z-pass:

When I render the first image, it renders as expected. But when it goes to the next take on the list it crashes. But if I remove the whole AOV, it renders as expected using take and team render. I've plugged in and out AOV drivers I can find a pattern when it crashes or not, so I guess it's something new in the latest version of c4dtoa.

Looks like a data type mismatch, but it's hard to tell without a repro. There was a fix in 2.3.0.1 regarding Team Render and AOVs, I'm gonna review it.
I could reproduce the issue in a simple scene. It will be fixed in the next release.
