maya arnold 5 batch render crashes if no graphics card installed

We have render blades that have no graphics card installed. Maya 2018 + Arnold 5 crashes immediately upon file read with segmentation fault.

Starting "/tech/apps/Autodesk/maya2018.3/maya2018/bin/maya"

This plugin does not support createPlatformOpenGLContext!

....

Loading arnold

NVIDIA: no NVIDIA devices found

....

Successfully imported python module 'arnold'

Successfully imported python module 'mtoa'

Successfully registered renderer 'arnold'

Warning: Loading plug-in "mtoa" has resulted in changes to the scene that may need to be saved.
