Hi All!
To keep it simple. I have 35 written trees .ass.gz procedurals. They are animated. they are each about 60meg a .ass.gz
I have 35 arnold procedural nodes in houdini that load in the trees, when i hit render, i wait about 8-10 minutes before rendering begins, and i noticed that only a single thread is being used to prepare the scene for rendering.
Is this unfortunately how arnold works? or is there a way for me to better write out my .ass files so that preparing the scene for rendering is multithreaded?
I have noticed from my other scenes that big geo, 500meg and ass loads way faster if its just one big mesh. It seems because i have thousands of leaves this may cause the slow initialization even if the ass file is small.

This looks like a regression we recently fixed, which version of Arnold / HtoA are you using?
Hi @Frederic Servant Thank you for the answer,
both use arnold 5.2.0.0
we were using htoa-3.0.3_ra077233_houdini-16.5.496
that is what i did the trees on,
and now moved to htoa-3.1.0_r84666ac_houdini-16.5.496
was the fix done on 3.1.0, and if yes, should i re-write all my ass files? or replace my arnold rops, what must be replaced in order for my scene to make use of the potential fix

Can you post a log that shows the Arnold time stats?
