Hello,
I am working on a short animation with characters using a lot of hair systems, and I am having troubles when adding the depth of field in post.
You can see an outline around it, on a place that should be blurred. The problem is the same with grass, but I usually don't focus on it so I never bothered.
I know that the Zpass has to be aliased to work, so I guess this is why it is a bit too "wide" on hair, which is really thin. But is there a workaround in Arnold or in post to make it work ?
Or should I just compute the depth of field at rendering (but it is too long to have a clean result ...) ?
Thank you for your help !
Francis
You can try rendering the character on a separate render layer and blurring it separately from the background.
i have always the same problem. i use a edgedetect and the a edgeblur node in nuke to blur the z pass a bit. this is just a workaround for me, i would like to have a better solution.
maybe it will help you a little bit.
best marc.
